This Heartache's Testimony By Persephone Disclaimer: Don't know, don't own, don't sue. *** Mariah had been on the run for months now. She had bounty hunters and the marshals all looking for her, but she found the chase to be the most exhilarating part. She would never stop, that's what most people didn't understand. Nothing would stop her until she avenged her love's murder. Nothing would stop her until the men who killed her love paid for their debt with their lives... She walked into the town, her black horse by her side. She named it Sadie, since she liked the horse so much. She was known as Black Mariah around most parts. She couldn't help but laugh at the fear her name brought to most people. There were a lot of stories that overshadowed her truth. Stories that she was born and is the antichrist, now that had to be the most original. Others said that she had no heart and the sheriffs to kill off the wanted men bred her. You knew if Mariah had killed someone or not. She left her mark on each man she had ever killed. She left a nice kiss mark on their cheeks with black lipstick. It wasn't like she didn't want anybody to know. She had been following these men for a while now, killing about two or so wanted men, just to see if it got any of them riled up enough to egg her on. No such luck, but she did meet with one of them. He thinks she's a prostitute and wants to meet with her a soon as she's in town. She smirked as the sun went down and she spotted her own WANTED poster. That's where he would go...the man she was meeting tonight. She knew his name. They called him Mikey, but his real name was Michael. She walked on, and into the saloon he told her to meet him in. She scanned the room for him. She spotted him in the corner, smoking. She smiled and walked towards his table, not bothering to sit in one of the offered chairs, but right into his lap. He grinned. She wanted this done fast, so that she could move onto the others that needed to pay for her love's death. She pulled him up the stairs after giving him a few drinks. He kept pinching her sides and nibbling on her neck, which she couldn't help but approve of. She laughed as he began to undo her corset. His shirt and his pants already down to ankles she threw him back against the bed. She had her hair different, so Mikey never noticed her features. She found it amazing how people only noticed her if she had her down and in her face. He bit on the exposed skin just below her collarbone when she pulled out her switchblade unnoticed. She blindfolded him, and then put some cloth in his mouth to muffle any sound he'd make. Then she made it swift. His death came by switchblade, just like he had done her love. She dragged his body through the back unnoticed and carried him on Sadie. When she got to the sheriffs office, she could see every single person was asleep. She quietly and quickly left his body sitting in the chair right next to her WANTED poster. She put her brand on him: the black kiss, and left one on the paper as well to let them all know that Mariah was now in town... The next day she went in broad daylight with a hat shadowing her face. She could see all of the people gathering around her WANTED poster, looking at the dead man. "Who is this?" "Mikey, he's wanted, his bounty was set on $10,000," said the sheriff. Mariah smirked at the fear of the old women standing next to her. "It's her...it's Black Mariah," one of them said. Mariah wanted to toy with them for a bit, "Who's Black Mariah?" she asked curiously. "You don't know Black Mariah? She's the brutal murderer, she's been all over the west these days," one of them said. "That girl's not right in the brain if you ask me," the other said. Mariah hid her smirk and nodded. Later that day she decided to be a bit more risky and took off the hat while she was talking to one of the other men she was after. He seemed nice, but he was the one who slipped the poison into her love's drink. She nodded as he continued talking. When they gave them their drinks she took one fake sip of hers and put a very dissatisfied look on her face. "This isn't what I expected...would you care for it?" she asked. He nodded and she dipped her finger into the drink that was laced with cyanide. She handed it to him and he drank it in one gulp. This was Bob...she could tell, since he was the only blonde from the group. He toppled over in his chair. At least they were in the back part of the saloon and nobody noticed. She dragged his body and laid him in the wagon, giving him the black kiss and leaving him. Nighttime was slowly dawning on them again. She only had three more to go. She had set up no date to meet any of the other three and she wanted this done quickly, so she spotted the three of them sitting playing poker and drinking. So maybe the easier one to take would be Frank, since he seemed to be a bit drunk than the rest. She sauntered toward the table and put her leg up on the table, right in front of him, making sure her thigh was eye level to him. He stared at her leg for a moment before he finally looked at her face. He smirked standing up and meeting her eyes. He was a gorgeous man, but he had to be taken, just like the rest. She pulled him by the jacket all the way up the stairs of the saloon and into a top room. She laughed at how eager he was. He was literally jumping on her and undoing the lace as fast as he could. She flipped him over and rubbed his chest. With a few loose rags she tied his wrists to the bedpost. He grinned, "I like your style." She only smiled back; it was better to get the job done than to talk to them. "So do you remember about a year ago...July 27th...a man named Jeph Howard and a woman named Mariah Carver?" He looked uncomfortable. "You watched didn't you Frank? You watched as they killed him didn't you? You watched your friend Bob poison his drink, and Mikey slit his throat with the switchblade? You watched Ray hit me and throw me in a closet, and Gerard fold him up in a sheet and bury him, didn't you?" Frank began to try and get free. "Didn't you?" "How do you know my name?" he asked uneasily. "I know lots of things." Mariah smirked as he helplessly laid there. She grabbed a pillow and put it to his face, and took a gun and shot at the pillow. His once moving legs immediately stopped. She removed the pillow to see she had a great aim: right between the eyes. He was a gorgeous man like she said before, but he had to go. She had just given him the black kiss before footsteps stopped outside the door. Suddenly footsteps entered the room; she knew it was Ray and Gerard. She jumped out of the window and climbed down the terrace and ran. Gerard and Ray were right behind her. She stopped after a while and put her hands up. She turned around to see they had stop and had their guns out. She began to fake cry. They lowered their guns for a moment, which gave her a good time to pull out two of hers. One shot for each and the deed was done. She sighed, she was through, and she could be with him now. She moved their bodies close to the saloon and gave them both the black kiss before stealing a razor from Ray's pocket and hopping on Sadie, riding into the night. She watched, as the five coffins were all open, each one of the bodies had a black kiss on their right cheek. She stole a razor from a barber and then took off into the night on Sadie. She came to his grave. She was stumbling, just happy to be there. She kissed the tombstone and lay on the grave. She put the razor to her skin and cut along her wrist. The deed was done, she would be with him. "I lost my fear of falling, I will be with you," she said silently as she faded into the night... |
