Q: Why do you need us to support TIP?
A: TIP's expenses are about $210 a month, and (not to point fingers) it's all your fault ;) Well, not JUST your fault! The high costs are mostly due to bandwidth usage, which can be attributed by fans downloading our awesome videos. Over 1,000 people download at least one video from us each day. OF COURSE we want you to keep downloading them! But at the same time, we can't afford the costs all on our own. We at TIP feel that we offer you a lot of great content. We hope that if you agree, you'll be happy to help us keep providing that content :)
Q: I can only donate $2. Why even bother?
A: Let's look at it this way: TIP receives over 150,000 individual visits each month. If each of those visitors would donate $2, Anna could drop out of college and just hang out online all day, plus keep TIP 100% operational. Of course, we recognize that 100,000 people aren't just going to suddenly donate. But every little bit helps. If even 40 people would donate $2, we'd be able to cover our $80 fees each month. 40 people out of 150,000 really isn't that much to ask!
Q: If I do donate, where does that money go?
A: As previously stated, our biggest expense each month is bandwidth. Because it accounts for over 90% of our expenses, chances are that's what your money will go to. There are other expenses, however. The basic hosting we have accounts for a small amount, as does our lease on the CafePress shop we currently have
Q: What if we donate more than your total expenses?
A: OH IF ONLY. There's a pretty major discount in price for purchasing long blocks of time at once. If we could take in more than our monthly fee ($210), we could buy two or three months at a time and save a bit of money in the long run. Someday...
Q: I'd like to help but I don't know about DONATING. What can I do?
A: Aside from donating, there are several other ways to support TIP. If you have money to spend, you could purchase some awesome TIP Merch or purchase a shirt from our affiliate T-Shirt Hell. If you don't have any money to spend, you could always register with GreenZap. Each user referred by TIP gains us $5 in webcash, which can be used for various useful things. You can also register for ZotSpot. We get credit for referring you, AND once you create an account, you can be paid to search the net. Pretty sweet deal.
Q: I'd like to donate but I don't have a credit card. What are my options?
A: If you'd like to give us money, as we've said before, we'd love to take it. Send a note to contribute@theimmortalityproject.com and we'll respond with a mailing address. We can currently accept well-concealed cash or money orders issued from major U.S. banks.
Q: I live outside the U.S. but still want to donate. What can I do?
A: If you have a credit card, simply donate via PayPal. PayPal will automatically convert your home currency into USD. Otherwise, contact us at contribute@theimmortalityproject.com for our mailing address. We're perfectly able to exchange foreign currency here at TIP HQ. However, please recall that when exchanging foreign currency, the bank charges a fee, so don't choose this method to send the equivalent of four or five dollars!
